Amanda J.
Peters - Director of Bands
Amanda Peters is an Alumnus of Patrick
Henry High School, graduating in 1998. During the following 4 years Mrs.
Peters attended Virginia Commonwealth University, majoring in Music
Education. She served as principal flautist in the VCU Wind Ensemble during
her junior and senior years. She also served as principal flautist for the
world premiere of the "Millennium Symphony" by Graham Garton during the
summer of 2000 in Bermuda. Mrs. Peters graduated magna cum laude in the
spring of 2002 and was named the outstanding student music educator for her
class. Immediately upon graduation, Mrs. Peters attained a position as
Director of Bands for both the high school and middle school programs in
Lunenburg County, VA. After 2 years, the position for Director of Bands at
PHHS became available, and Mrs. Peters could not pass up the opportunity to
teach at her former High School. From 2004 to present, Mrs. Peters has led
the PH Band program to several important accomplishments, including 4
straight Superior ratings for the Wind Ensemble at the annual VBODA spring
concert festival. She has also been named 4 times in "Who's Who Among
America's Teachers," a program that allows nominations by students only.
In 2005, Mrs. Peters married her fiancé, Jeff, a former band geek whom you are likely to see at most of the various marching, jazz and concert performances. They currently reside in Glen Allen with their cats, Oreo, Louie and Ella.
